History of supercomputing in India is that of grit and perseverance.
In late 1980s, Rajiv Gandhi courted US to buy a supercomputer for weather forecasting. The US was trying to sell its older Cray supercomputers and not the ones that India needed.
Eventually India agreed to buy second hand technology from US despite strong opposition by Indian scientists.
The deal was far from perfect: $20 million for an older generation technology. India was being taken for a ride.
Neverthless it created a panic in the think tanks in US. They argued what if India uses it for making "nuclear weapons". Eventually Bush pulled the plug and refused to sell CRAY supercomputers to India
Govt of US also pressurized USSR and IBM to not engage in high tech transfer to India. Rajiv Gandhi eventually went to the scientists he had ignored and threw the challenge to them at CSIR.
Vijay Bhatkar the architect of the mission told the PM that though he has never used a supercomputer, he can confidently built one
With just $30 million, India was able to built a supercomputer - PARAM 8000 by 1991 that caused quite a heartburn in US and a furor elsewhere. @washingtonpost screamed "Angry India does it!"
The bigger problem for US was that now their CRAY supercomputer was left with no takers. It was a big jolt to their businesses and strategy.
It galvanized supercomputing in India and in 2007 Tata's had EKA supercomputer that featured in the top 10 in the world.
But it wasn't all good. Soon the govt stopped focusing and India was left with a few single digit supercomputers in Top 500 while China leapfrogged.
And while Rajiv Gandhi received a Bharat Ratna for questionable contribution, Vijay Bhatkar - the architect of India's first supercomputer received his Padma Bhushan in 2015 when Modi govt came to power
Thankfully Modi has realized the importance of supercomputing and given 4500 crores to National Supercomputing Mission in 2015
And the renewed focus on supercomputing in India has started bearing fruits. We will soon (hopefully) figure in the list of fastest supercomputers in top 10 again.

Out of 168 Million Acre Feet (MFA), India receives 33 MFA.
Out of this 33, around 3 flows to Pakistan as we don't have enough dams.
After they're in place in some years from now, we'll retain the remaining 3 MFA.
How much is 3 MFA?
an acre-foot is 43,560 cubic feet (1,233 m3).
3 Million Acre Foot = 3000000*1233 = 3699000000 m3.
Each person needs 0.378541 m3 per day.
So, 3699000000 / 0.378541 = enough water for 977 Crore? I made mistake?!
That's a lot of water!!
All these pressures on Pakistan will make them worst than beggars....
They will die thirsty...
